Champion Spotlight: Peace Pledge Project

We are thrilled to embrace and support the Peace Pledge Project.  We had the good fortune to be at the Universal Sufi Temple in the Netherlands. The best of ideas are simple and clear and when executed also inspire many others to action. Nonagenarian Dr. Johannes Witteveen former Executive Director of the International Monetary Fund and a world-renowned Sufi leader is known as Murshid Karimbakhsh has been bringing together spiritually inspired leaders to reflect on how to advance greater human harmony and unity.

The Peace Pledge Project and Peace Pledge Document emerged from the deliberations of the Universal Sufi Counsel. The actual document was a collaboration of Dr. Johannes Witteveen – Chair Universal Sufi Council, Jonathan Granoff – President of Global Security Institute, Brigitte van Baren -Director Inner Sense, and Pir Shabda Khan – Director Sufi Ruhaniat International USA. They began their first interfaith pilgrimage to sacred places to advance Loving-Kindness and Compassion — values central to our lives and principles to guide institutions this past February in New Delhi, India. It was there a commitment was made to live, circulate and advance the Peace Pledge to as many people, spiritual leaders, and institutions as possible. The intention behind the pledge is the understanding that the core of all spiritual experience, as well as the authentic value of every religious tradition, is the mystery and majesty of Loving-Kindness and Compassion.

The document speaks for itself and it is now the commitment of the Peace Pledge Project to offer the Peace Pledge to the world in order to advance its message. It is only when each person takes, signs and puts this pledge into action that peace and unity among people of all belief systems in this world is possible.
