Join us as East meets West to discover MLK’s connection with Japan and his call for a world free of Nuclear Weapons. Learn about MLK’s scheduled trip to Japan in August of 1968 which sadly was not fulfilled due to his assassination 4 months earlier.
Welcome special guest speaker Lisa Huber, National Peace Academy USA and Dot Maver who will lead us in a Global Silent Minute. Facilitated by Fumi Johns Stewart, Executive Director of May Peace Prevail On Earth Int. The program will be attended by many of our relatives from Japan with simultaneous interpretation offered by Kumiko Zushi.

Fumi Johns Stewart is Executive Director of May Peace Prevail On Earth International. Fumi grew up in Japan with a sincere wish to bridge the two cultures of her American and Japanese parentage. She was instrumental in introducing the May Peace Prevail On Earth movement to the international community in the early 1980’s. She brought The Peace Pole Project out of Japan and helped to establish the global Peace Pole movement. She assisted in opening the International Headquarters of May Peace Prevail On Earth International, originally known as The World Peace Prayer Society, which was registered as a non-profit corporation in the state of New York in 1988. Fumi also serves as US liaison to sister organization, the Goi Peace Foundation of Japan and Byakko Shinko Kai at Mt. Fuji Sanctuary. www.worldpeace.org
