Seek and Heal the Causes

In the majority of human cultures medicine – physical and spiritual – is focused on stopping the pain of the disease or dis-ease affecting someone. This is a band-aid approach… curing the pain. This applies to individuals and groups. This is temporary relief if you go no further. Dr. King knew this. He knew we needed to seek the causes of racism and work there. As did many other visionary leaders. Some of us have been trained by our elders to dig deeper and expose causes and then work for healing – a more permanent solution. I share an indigenous story to demonstrate this and then share some ways to work in this fashion and discuss the topic with those present.
