Igniting a 44-day journey toward Peace Through Unity
On August 8, 2026, people around the world will join the Global Peace Activation, brought forward by Nicole Gibson and a growing international community.

The invitation is simple and powerful:
pause, connect, and activate peace within ourselves, our communities, and the Human Family.
Around the world, this shared moment will come alive through many locally rooted Peace Nodes—meditations, ceremonies, concerts, community gatherings, youth activities, neighborhood actions, creative expressions, and personal commitments.
One such Peace Node will take shape on August 8 in Minneapolis, where a group of us will gather for Being Minneapolis: Healing Our City. Healing Our World. Together, we will listen, learn, honor the city’s journey, and explore how healing rooted in place can contribute to peace around the world.
Each Peace Node may look different. What connects them is a common intention:
I AM PEACE.
Together, these many expressions can make peace visible, lived, and contagious.
Choose Peace. Live Peace. End War.
Hereditary Chief Phil Lane Jr. and the Four Worlds International Institute are helping carry the spirit of the Global Peace Activation forward through a clear commitment:
Choose Peace. Live Peace. End War.
To choose peace is to decide which path we will follow.
To live peace is to embody that choice in our relationships, communities, institutions, and daily lives.
To end war is to transform the fear, hatred, injustice, exploitation, and separation from which violence grows.

The 8/8 activation can therefore become more than a single global moment. It can ignite an ongoing journey of compassionate action—one in which peace is not merely hoped for, but practiced.
A Choice Foretold

Chief Phil connects this moment to teachings and prophecies that have guided Indigenous peoples for generations.
The Prophecy of the Eighth Fire speaks of humanity reaching a crossroads. One path continues toward division, destruction, and disconnection from the Earth. The other leads toward spiritual renewal, reconciliation, and right relationship with all life.
The choice cannot be made only through words or intentions. It must be expressed through how we live, organize, and care for one another.
Signing the Binding Planetary Peace Treaty is one concrete way to make that commitment visible and help choose the path of peace.
The vision of the Great Peacemaker calls humanity to bury the weapons of hatred beneath the Tree of Peace. Lakota holy man Black Elk, Heȟáka Sápa, envisioned the broken hoop of the people being restored, with many hoops gathered within one great hoop.

These teachings remind us that peace will not be created by one leader, organization, tradition, or movement.
It will emerge as many peoples bring their distinct gifts into relationship.
A Team of Teams and a Hoop of Many Hoops
Chief Phil describes this emerging movement as a Team of Teams—a contemporary expression of a Hoop of Many Hoops.

Each movement retains its identity.
Each tradition contributes its wisdom.
Each community acts from its own place, relationships, and responsibilities.
Each Peace Node becomes part of something larger.
The Compassion Games and our partners will participate as one of these nodes—helping convene, connect, tell stories, and invite other communities to create nodes of their own.
One node can inspire another.
One story can reveal a shared pattern.
Many connected actions can become a wave of shared impact.
This is what it means to Play Together for Shared Impact:
not building a single organization that contains everyone, but strengthening the relationships among many existing efforts so that each becomes more effective and none has to carry the work alone.
From 8/8 to Peace Through Unity Weekend

August 8 begins a 44-day journey leading to the United Nations International Day of Peace on September 21.
During this journey, Peace Nodes will be invited to remain active, deepen their commitments, share their stories, and connect with other communities choosing peace.
The momentum will flow into the 11-Day Global Compassion Challenge, held September 11–21 as part of We, The World’s 11 Days of Global Unity.

The journey will culminate with Peace Through Unity Weekend, September 18–21—a four-day global invitation to:
Open the Way.
Come Together.
Live Peace.
Choose Peace.
On September 21, people and institutions everywhere will be invited to participate in a Global Pause for Peace—creating space for reflection, reconciliation, renewal, compassionate action, and renewed commitment to one another and the Earth.

Through these connected moments, the energy awakened on 8/8 can continue growing:
from an activation, to a practice, to a movement.
Making the Movement Visible
Every Peace Node carries a story.
A young person choosing reconciliation instead of retaliation.
A neighborhood gathering across lines of difference.
A community restoring land or water.
A school practicing kindness.
A ceremony honoring the Earth.
A family repairing a relationship.
When these stories are shared, people begin to see that they are not acting alone. Separate efforts become visible as parts of a larger movement.
Through the Peace Through Unity Story Cluster Map, we will connect the people, organizations, Peace Nodes, stories, and initiatives contributing to this journey.

The map will not attempt to define or control the movement. It will help us recognize it.
By seeing what is already happening, we can strengthen relationships, discover opportunities for cooperation, identify who is not yet represented, and invite the Hoop to grow.
The Invitation
On August 8, join the Global Peace Activation.
Create or participate in a Peace Node.
Bring forward your traditions, relationships, creativity, and gifts.
Declare I AM PEACE and explore what it means to:
Choose Peace. Live Peace. End War.

Share the story of what you do so that others can learn from it, connect with it, and be inspired to act.
Then carry your commitment forward through the 44-day journey to Peace Through Unity Weekend.

No one owns peace, and no single movement can create it alone.
But together—as a Team of Teams and a Hoop of Many Hoops—we can awaken one global activation into a growing movement for peace through unity.
One Planet. One Human Family. Many Hoops. One shared choice: peace.
